BDME was formed in 1995 as an independent consultancy providing energy and environmental design support services to the construction industry. The practice operates out of Linlithgow near Edinburgh and has developed a wide client base since its establishment.
The practice offers a co-ordinated range of services to support designers, developers, and builders in specialist areas relating to building performance, regulatory compliance, and the environment. Project support ranges from simple extensions up to large housing developments and multi storey flats. Having initially been established in the commercial sector providing advanced thermal simulation services BDME expanded into the domestic housing market where the majority of work is now focused.
The practice is operated by Derek McDonald who has spent his entire working life within the construction industry. Derek holds the following qualifications:-

MSc in Building Services Engineering - Heriot Watt University - 1988
Qualified Domestic Energy Assessor [OCDEA] - STROMA Registered
Qualified Air Tightness Tester - ATTMA Registered
